La FDA approva un’app per Apple Watch che mette fine agli incubi notturni

Nei giorni scorsi la FDA ha approvato l’app Nightware per Apple Watch, la quale aiuta a trattare gli incubi notturni legati al disturbo da stress post-traumatico (o PTSD).

Con Nightware, i sensori sull’Apple Watch monitorano la frequenza cardiaca e il movimento del corpo dell’utente durante il sonno e questi dati vengono inviati a un server dove vengono confrontati con un profilo di sonno di base dell’utente.

Se l’app rileva che l’utente sta avendo un incubo, l’Apple Watch inizierà ad inviare piccole vibrazioni nel tentativo di interrompere l’incubo. Gli sviluppatori avvertono che Nightware non è stata concepita per essere un trattamento autonomo per incubi basati su PTSD e dovrebbe essere utilizzato sotto la supervisione di un medico.

Inoltre, per utilizzare l’app è necessaria una prescrizione medica e non può essere utilizzata per combattere gli incubi durante il sonnambulismo e/o da coloro che hanno subito violenze sessuali. Nightware non deve essere utilizzato durante il giorno, ma solo di notte, poiché potrebbe causare de falsi allarmi.

Non c’è alcuna garanzia che l’app funzioni, anche se la FDA ha affermato che uno studio ha mostrato una migliore qualità del sonno con NightWare.

Gli sviluppatori hanno fatto sapere che l’app sarà presto disponibile su App Store.
