macOS Sequoia introduce la funzione HDMI Passthrough

Con il rilascio di macOS Sequoia, diverse app di Apple hanno acquisito una nuova funzionalità di HDMI Passthrough, che consente ai Mac di inviare un segnale audio Dolby Atmos non alterato a un ricevitore AV o a una soundbar connessi.

Questa nuova funzionalità appare in diverse applicazioni di macOS 15, tra cui TV, Musica e QuickTime Player. Apple spiega che attivando questa opzione gli utenti possono “Riprodurre audio supportato in Dolby Atmos e altri formati Dolby Audio utilizzando HDMI Passthrough quando connessi a un dispositivo supportato.”

La funzionalità sarà probabilmente ben accolta dagli utenti che collegano il loro Mac a un dispositivo esterno che supporta Dolby Atmos, come un ricevitore AV o una soundbar. Quando collegato tramite cavo HDMI, il dispositivo sarà in grado di decodificare e riprodurre l’audio Dolby Atmos immersivo, inviando contemporaneamente il segnale video a una TV collegata.

Non è chiaro se questa opzione sarà inclusa in tvOS 18, ma dato che la società l’ha resa una funzionalità di sistema in macOS Sequoia, è probabile che la vedremo anche su Apple TV in un futuro aggiornamento. Sia macOS Sequoia che tvOS 18 sono attualmente in beta per sviluppatori, con versioni beta pubbliche previste per questo mese, seguite da un rilascio generale in autunno.
