Fitbit: “Apple Watch è una potenziale minaccia alla nostra attività”

Fitbit, la società di San Francisco creatrice di fitness tracker, ha annunciato di avere in programma di quotarsi in borsa cercando di raccogliere così almeno 100 milioni di dollari d’investimenti. L’azienda ha venduto quasi 21 milioni dispositivi fino ad oggi, la metà dei quali solo l’anno scorso. Questo è quindi senza dubbio un momento favorevole per la società.

Come parte della sua richiesta presso la U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, la società ha dovuto comunicare le potenziali minacce per la sua attività, e tra quelle specificatamente citate vi è Apple Watch:

Apple ha recentemente introdotto lo smartwatch Apple Watch, che presenta numerose funzionalità, tra cui quelle dedicate al fitness e alla salute. Siamo in concorrenza anche con una vasta gamma di applicazioni per dispositivi mobili legate al mondo del fitness e della salute, che possono essere scaricate/acquistate tramite gli app store.

Il più diretto concorrente di Fitbit per Apple Watch è Surge, un cosiddetto “super orologio” con funzioni legate al fitness e alla salute. Anche se non è funzionale come un vero e proprio smartwatch, il dispositivo include il GPS integrato per il monitoraggio dell’attività fisica all’aperto.
